The Neuroscience Society of Nepal (NSN), in collaboration with the International Brain Research Organization (IBRO), organized the fourth Neuroscience School from April 24 to May 8, 2024, in Kathmandu, Nepal. The theme was “Psychophysiology of Neurological Disorders – Genomics and Non-Genomics Perception,” focusing on the genetic and non-genetic factors influencing neurological disorders. The event featured 26 participants from Nepal, India, Vietnam, Malaysia, Nigeria, and Bhutan.
The program included 12 plenary lectures, 22 advanced sessions, 5 virtual hours, and 36 hours of hands-on training. Distinguished speakers from the Asia Pacific region and the USA, such as Professor Bindu M. Kutty from NIMHANS, India, delivered lectures on recent findings in neurophysiology.

Participants were divided into genomic and non-genomic teams for hands-on training. The genomic team explored molecular techniques like RT-PCR and next-generation sequencing, while the non-genomic team engaged with rTMS, EEG, and polysomnography. Notable sessions included lectures on CRISPR/Cas systems by Dr. Sunita Gautam and neuro-modulatory techniques by Dr. Dinesh Bhatia.
The school concluded with participant presentations on theoretical and laboratory learnings, followed by a closing ceremony with awards for outstanding projects. Feedback indicated high satisfaction, with suggestions for more hands-on training in future editions. Dr. Ajaya Jang Kunwar, NSN President, expressed gratitude to all involved.
