Introduction:
The American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH) is a professional organization dedicated to the promotion of global health through the prevention and control of infectious and other diseases that disproportionately affect populations in tropical and subtropical regions. Founded in 1903, the ASTMH has grown to become one of the largest organizations of its kind, with a membership of over 4,000 scientists, clinicians, and other professionals from around the world who are involved in the research, treatment, and control of tropical diseases.
The Society’s mission is to promote the health of people living in tropical and subtropical regions of the world by advancing scientific research, supporting the development of new technologies and treatments, and educating healthcare professionals and the public about the prevention and control of tropical diseases.
The ASTMH also plays a critical role in advocating for policies and programs that support global health, and in building partnerships with organizations and institutions around the world to promote the development and implementation of effective strategies for disease control and elimination.
Annual Meeting
The Annual Meeting of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH) is the leading international platform for the exchange of scientific achievements in tropical medicine, hygiene, and global health.
Tropical medicine and global health specialists from academia, foundations, government, not-for-profit organizations, non-governmental organizations, the commercial sector, military, and private practice attend the gathering. Researchers, professors, government and public health officials, military personnel, travel clinic physicians, practicing tropical medicine physicians, students, and any healthcare providers working in the disciplines of tropical medicine, hygiene, and global health are invited to attend.
It is a five-day educational conference with four pre-meeting seminars that attracts over 4,000 attendees.
